A beautiful year past and an exciting year to come!
Dear Friends,
As 2023 winds down, I am filled with heartfelt gratitude and fond reflection. In the serene embrace of Torcé, our dream project, Château Des Tesnières, has been growing and flourishing, fueled by the dedication of our remarkable team. Your interest and enthusiasm for our journey of restoration and transformation have been incredibly uplifting, providing constant inspiration for us all.
This year, Château Des Tesnières has celebrated significant milestones. The talented Adriaan Boshoff jnr. and his wife Andri, along with Darren Sheldon, Marco Viegas of Paper Perfect Wallpaper Applicators Cape Town, Dries and Renier Pohl, and Nicky Steyn, have played pivotal roles in the remarkable metamorphosis of our cherished home. The Queen Anne ceramic panel, masterfully crafted by Madeleine and Rhoda Henning, epitomizes our passion for blending historical elegance with modern artistry.
We also would like to extend our profound appreciation to Nico Thynsma and his team at Madibri for their outstanding work in developing the first phase of the garden, beautifully planting 160 trees in collaboration with our French partners. Our heartfelt thanks also go to our Architect Marine Fervel and Interior Designer Martine Di Matteo for their vision and expertise. The phenomenal support we have received from Yannick Fouet, the Mayor of Torcé, and Isabelle Le Callennec, the Mayor of Vitré, has been invaluable in bringing our project to life.
This transformation is not just about restoring a structure; it’s about reviving a dream. The legacy of Restaurant Mosaic, once a beacon of culinary excellence in South Africa, is poised to continue its next chapter here in Torcé. Inspired by the memories of our renowned wine cellar, we are diligently working to recreate this oenological treasure. The spirit of Mosaic is vibrantly alive in every element of Château Des Tesnières, and we are profoundly grateful to each producer and negociant who has contributed exceptional gems and rare allocations to our cellar this year.
Our journey is a testament to the resilience of dreams and the power of passionate persistence. As we build and renew our wine collection, we are reminded of the many vintages shared with you, our dear friends, and eagerly anticipate many more. This cellar will not merely house bottles; it will encapsulate stories, memories, and the essence of our shared journey.
